Jon the unlucky : production material, 1964.

Jon the Unlucky, an orphan living in 19th century Greenland, loses his way in a storm and saves the life of Thorvald, a boy his own age, who takes Jon to a hidden valley, inhabited by the descendants of the lost 10th century Danish colony founded by Eric the Red. Preliminary illustrative materials (box #408) include four tempera illustrations on waxed paper, two reproductions of illustrations, 36 positive & negative images of illustrations, 4 watercolors, 2 ink illustrations, 71 studies (pencil, ink, tempera, watercolor, felt marker, tempera on waxed paper and plastic, colored pencil) one with overlay and some of the cover, 6 jacket proofs, 2 negatives, 23 layout notes, 11 color swatches in various media, one notebook with notes and sketches, 90 pieces of research material. Later items (box #409) comprises one matted watercolor illustration with overlay, 6 watercolor illustrations, 1 matted watercolor illustration, 19 watercolor illustrations with overlay, 1 watercolor illustration with overlay and pasted reproduction from book on the overlay.
